Former First Lady Grace Mugabe’s sister, Junior Shuvai Gumbochuma, has been ordered by the High Court to pay $136 000 to ZESA Holdings subsidiary ZETDC for electricity supplied to her.

Justice David Mangota ruled that Gumbochuma should show the ZETDC’s lawyers, proof of payment within seven days of the payment. He declared:

The defendant (Gumbochuma) shall pay the sum of $136 638,04 to the plaintiff (ZETDC) together with interest thereon at the prescribed rate of interest calculated from the date of issue of summons to date of payment both dates inclusive.

The amount shall be made in terms of the deed of settlement made and entered into by and between the parties. The defendant shall pay the plaintiff’s cost of suit.

The deed of settlement entered into between ZETDC and Gumbochuma states that should the latter fail to pay in accordance with the terms of the deed, the total sum of the outstanding balance shall become due and payable to the plaintiff with effect from the date of default.
