“No Questions For Ministers Until You Recognise ED” – Mudenda Bars MDC Legislators

Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Mudenda reportedly barred members of the opposition MDC led by Nelson Chamisa from addressing questions at government ministers until they recognise president Mnangagwa as the president.

Ruling after Justice Minister and Leader of the House, Ziyambi Ziyambi asked if it was prudent to allow opposition legislators to ask questions to Government ministers when they had refused to recognise Mnangagwa who is the appointing authority, Mudenda said:

I hear you, Honourable Minister, that in terms of the Constitution, Ministers belong to Cabinet and that Cabinet is comprised of the President.

Until we resolve the issue of acceptance by members of the opposition, the request by the Leader of the House stands.

His remarks come after MDC legislators have recently walked out of Parliament when Mnangagwa started delivering hisย  State of the Nation Address. Mudenda said:

The party does not recognise Mnangagwa as the president saying he manipulated last year’s elections and robbed Chamisa of victory.
