United States Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Brian Nichols has said that Zimbabwe needs to investigate over 50 abductions cases that were reported a few weeks ago.
Speaking in an interview aired on social media with a local publication, the US diplomat said that Zimbabwe was stubbornly resistant to reforms which are of much vitality to the transformation of the country. He said:
We have seen very disturbing incidences of abductions of civil society members. We have seen protests turning violent in August 2018, January and August 2019 and turning off the internet.
Zimbabwe has got more than 50 abduction cases that have not yet been investigated, that is something that is very crucial.
Nichols added that for the country to move forward, it is essential to have unshakeable reforms which cannot be reversed.
He speaks when Zimbabwe has embarked on a re-engagement agenda meant to mend relations with the international community that distanced itself from the Southen Arican country at the turn of the millennium for alleged human rights abuses.
