"What Did You Contribute? Nothing,” Muchinguri Challenges Legislators

Defence Minister, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri has challenged party legislators to champion initiatives by the ruling ZANU PF.

She was addressing Matabeleland North provincial Coordinating Committee meeting in Lupane on Sunday where she said Members of Parliament must produce work commensurate with benefits of holding their positions. Muchinguri said:

My job is to enforce discipline. If you are an MP and think it is everything then know you are missing it. Have you established bakeries in your area? You did not do anything and you are here folding your hands. That is indiscipline. The provincial chairman will be following up to check if leaders are carrying out the tasks assigned to them. You cannot just get vehicles from parliament and from the party for nothing. What did you contribute? Nothing.

Her remarks come when Members of Parliament from both ZANU PF and opposition parties have been criticised for asking “ridiculous” demands when they are doing less in oine with their work.

They have also been criticised for being inconsiderate after they demanded expensive vehicles when the country is bleeding.
