ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Provincial Leaders Fight For Chairmanship

ZANU PF Mashonaland Provincial leaders are reportedly contesting to land the Provincial chairman post which is currently held by ICT Minister, Kazembe Kazembe.

Zim Morning Post reports that top contenders for the post include the militant Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) Provincial supremo, Sam Parirenyatwa, party youth leader, Godfrey Tsenengamu and Sydney Chidamba, who is a ZANU PF Central Committee member based in Mazowe.

The publication understands that all the figures above played an essential role in ousting the late former president Robert Mugabe and now believe that it is time to be rewarded with the Party provincial post.

Zim Morning Post observes that although Tsenengamu is loved for his personal capabilities including public speaking, his tendency of switching sides can be a stumbling block for him.

Chidamba is alleged to have the backing of a former cabinet minister, Nicholas Goche who wields immense influence in the province.

Meanwhile, Kazembe has publicly announced his interest in retaining the post and has reportedly threatened physical harm to anyone who dared contest him.

The battle for power in the province is believed to be the reason why first lady Auxillia Mnangagwa’s events were poorly organised and poorly attended as some bigwigs did not sponsor the events to sabotage rivals who were organising.
