Cabinet Blocked ZBC, Joy TV Deal - Report

In December last year, Joy TV entred into an agreement with the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) to establish a new television station in the first quarter of 2019 but the move was blocked by the cabinet, according to journalist Hopewell Chin’ono.

Below is the announcement that was made by ZBC about the deal with Joy TV:

The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) is pleased to announce its partnership with Joy Media Incorporated (JMI) effective December 2018. Through this partnership, ZBC and JMI will re-launch Joy TV, an exciting new product for Zimbabwe’s Television audiences.

This recent partnership, which will most certainly complement ZBC’s programming, comes at a time when ZBC is preparing for digital switchover and will see the national broadcaster introducing an additional 6 new television channels.

Set to be launched within the first quarter of 2019, Joy TV will run as a 24-hour family entertainment channel that will air local and foreign content.
