Zhombe Chief Says Children Born Through Incest Must Be Killed

A Zhombe chief has called for the killing of children who are born out of incestuous relationships, saying that such kind of people are a taboo.

Chief Samambwa made the call at the launch of The Midlands Province Integrated Environmental Programme which was attended by the First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa on Monday. Said the chief:

Such people must be killed. Having them in our midst creates serious problems for our communities. Even fellow traditional leaders agree with me on that one.

Incest refers to intimacy between blood relatives, and incestuous relationships are said to be rampant among Zimbabwean communities.

However, the First Lady called for the arrest of those involved in such relationships and urged communities to report rapists and condemn early child marriages.
