“The Land Audit Was A Major Flop,” – Report

The national land audit has been described as a huge failure as some of the most powerful people in the country have retained multiple farms and have not been exposed by the audit.

A source to the Zim Morning Post has claimed that some of these powerful people successfully changed ownership of their farms to trusted agents in a bid to outwit the audit. An unidentified source to the publication said:

The bigwigs pulled a fast one on the government and rushed to change ownership into names of trusted relatives with different surnames, while some used companies with figurehead directorship and listed the companies as owners, so well we can safely say the audit was a major flop.

The audit was meant to correct the land redistribution irregularities which include multiple farm ownership and underutilisation of land.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa revealed a few months ago that the audit was unearthing multiple farm ownership scandals including by the former first lady Grace Mugabe who is alleged to own 16 farms.
