Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister July Moyo said that Gweru City Council did not inform him of the suspension of town clerk Elizabeth Gwatipedza.
In an interview with The Herald on Wednesday, Moyo said that he will look into the issue as a matter of urgency to ensure that service delivery was not hampered. He said:
About the suspension of Gweru town clerk, I’m not aware of it, I wasn’t briefed about this alleged suspension and I’m going to look into it.
Gweru Mayor Councillor Josiah Makombe on Tuesday announced the suspension of Gwatipedza on allegations of mismanagement and failure to monitor and supervise all departments resulting in a negative impact on service delivery. She was suspended without pay.
