Police Order Chibwe To Bring Receipts For 'ABC Auctions' Helmets
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) on Monday questioned Mitchel Chibwe over anti-riot police helmets found in the basement of Robinson House.
Kudzai Rangarirai of Mtisi Law Chambers, said his client, Chibwe, was invited to Harare Central Police Station for questioning;
He (Chibwe) bought the helmets at ABC Auctions, however by the time we went to the police we did not have the receipts and the police instructed us to bring them as soon as possible.
FeedbackThe police were satisfied with our clarification and my client was released unconditionally.
Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi (National Police spokesperson) said investigations into the matter were ongoing. The 210 anti-riot and 46 municipal police helmets were recovered on Saturday by police after chasing “thugs” who had attacked a police officer and fled into the building.
