The Chronicle reports that more people from the Matabeleland provinces were added to the initial lists of student nurses enrolled at Mpilo Central Hospital and United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH).
This followed an outcry over an “unfair” selection process that saw over 90 per cent of the recruits at the two hospitals taken from Harare and the Mashonaland provinces.
Unnamed officials from the Ministry of Health and Child Care are reportedly said that 7 students were added to the list at Mpilo Central Hospital on Tuesday night while 3 were allegedly added to the list at UBH.
The Ministry of Health recently introduced an online nurses’ application forum in a bid to eradicate corruption and bribery in the selections of student nurses. Despite the Ministry claiming that the recruitment process went quite well, the alleged bias in the selection processes leaves a lot to be desired.
