Zimbabwean Owned African Car Brand To Grace The Local Market Next Year

Mureza Auto Company, owned by a Zimbabwean and headquartered in SA is set to debut in the local market next year, Newsday reports. The company will start assembling its vehicles at Willowvale Motor Industry next year it has emerged.

This was revealed by Mureza-Zimbabwe events co-ordinator and public relations officer Chidochemoyo Nemhara who said this to the publication:

We are undoubtedly going to start assembling our vehicles named Prim8 (pronounced Primate) at WMI assembly next year. Our components are manufactured in Iran and South Africa, but Mureza’s ultimate objective is to design and manufacture vehicles for Africans. We are targeting to produce 100 units per month and the vehicles’ selling price will be US$13 500 each. Arrangements for Zimbabwe dollar purchases will be made.

The primate has the following features according to the Newsday:

  1. 1,5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine
  2. The vehicle is front-wheel drive
  3.  Keyless entry
  4. A seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  5. SatNav
  6. Rear-view camera
  7. Parking sensors
  8. Air-conditioning.
  9. Electronic stability control,
  10. Tyre-pressure monitoring,
  11. A powered driver’s seat
  12. Two airbags
