FULL TEXT: Rural Teachers ‘Sick And Tired’ Of ‘Empty Promises’

Heed for the call for a job action by ARTUZ MUTOKO DISTRICT.

Teachers have made an enormous contribution to the construction of the present-day Zimbabwean society with an insignificant recognition from the government.

It’s absurd that we are subsidizing the government which has long abandoned its duty of keeping up our welfare.

It’s no longer a secret that the cost of living has reached unbearable levels such that a teacher cannot afford to have decent meals, formal dressing, accommodation, schools for children e.t.c.

Our suffering is being fuelled by austerity measures and it’s time to shun austerity. We are sick and tired of fruitless meetings which only bring empty promises.

Now is the time and the time is now let’s join our hands to bring down austerity through the ARTUZ job action set for Monday 14 October 2019, we are inviting other unions and independent teachers to down tools.

It’s now or never let us demonstrate people power united we stand divided we fall.
