Zambia Offers To Produce Maize For Zimbabwe Every Year

Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement Minister Perrance Shiri said Zambia has offered a deal to supply Zimbabwe with maize annually.

Shiri made the remarks while speaking during the launch of the traditional seeds input programme at Marymount in Rushinga District last week. He said:

Zambia said we should sign an agreement with them for them to produce maize for us annually and we should not forget that we used to feed Zambia.

So it is not possible for us to be fed by other nations when we have the capacity to produce our own food.

Zimbabwe has an acute shortage of the staple grain and recently imported 17 000 tonnes of maize from Tanzania.

The United Nations has also launched an appeal to the international community to raise funds to provide food for roughly half of Zimbabwe’s population.

  1. Having failed to regulate prices how do you expect farmers to buy inputs and afford labour and tilage. 10 kg presidential seed is totally nothing

  2. You chased away our white farmers for what?

Now we are a laughing stock, an empty bread basket.

Disasterous land grabbing will never bear any fruits not in the next 50 – 100 yrs

Zanu destroyed a beautiful country pregnant with so much potential for selfish political reasons.
