Local Construction Company Sues British Council Over $11K Debt

Africa Refractory Industries (Pvt) Ltd has approached the High Court Of Zimbabwe to help recover the funds British Council owes them the Herald reports. The British Council has already been summoned by the High Court over the debt.

Part of the summons sent to the council read:

The British Council made payment of US$62 671, 44 leaving a balance of US$11 708, 28. Africa Refractory Industries (Pvt) Ltd fully performed its obligation in terms of the agreement. An invoice of the final payment of US$11 708, 28 was submitted to the British Council Zimbabwe who for no just cause refused, failed and or neglected to pay plaintiff the balance.

Africa Refractory reportedly refurbished the British council offices in Harare, part of their invoice was paid for upon completion and the $11k in question was left outstanding. Africa Refractory wants the council to pay the debt plus 5% interest.
