Former Tourism Minister, Walter Mzembi has said that opposition MDC leader, Advocate Nelson Chamisa is of much vitality as far as President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s legitimacy is concerned.
He said that the current political situation is very much alike to that which prevailed in the country shortly before the Government of National Unity was formed.
He revealed how the late former Prime Minister and MDC founding father, Morgan Tsvangirai had, during his world tour, worked to legitimise the GNU and the presidency of the late founding father of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe. Mzembi added:
Back to the 2009 trip, contrary to what is happening now, we soon learnt, and this is absolute reality and advice to the Harare administration, that legitimacy is conferred by your political opponents, not by self, your choir, or opportunity and job hunters. It was Tsvangirai’s legitimacy lobby and endorsement that became the lifeblood of the inclusive government as Chamisa can do for Mnangagwa and his government, God willing and commonsense prevailing.
Mzembi said that Zimbabwe can only go forward if Zimbabweans work together. If they look beyond political affiliations.
