Director of the Zimbabwe Peace Project (ZPP), Jestina Mukoko, says she is still haunted by her abduction and torture by State security agents 11 years ago.
Mukoko revealed that she has an eerie feeling whenever she recognises some action that it strange, and the abductions of Itai Dzamara and recently, Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors’ Association (ZHDA) acting President, Dr Peter Magombeyi, have caused a regression in her healing. She said:
I get afraid if I see people who I feel uncomfortable around and when I recognise some action that is strange. I have become very observant.
Mukoko was abducted by six unidentified men who stormed into her Norton home at 5 am on December 3, 2008. She was dragged in her nightdress, tortured for 22 days and dumped at a police station.
