Police Gun Down Robber In Chitungwiza
Police shot and killed an armed robber in Chitungwiza on Monday following an exchange of fire.
In a statement, the police said that the armed robbers were involved in a number of robbery cases in Marondera and Harare among other towns. The statement reads as follows:
Police have arrested 5 armed robbers who were involved in a number of robbery cases in Marondera, Harare and other towns since January 2019 after a shoot out. The gang was arrested early today in Chitungwiza after detectives laid an ambush at a local night club.
One of the suspects died of injuries sustained during the shoot out with the police. Police will not hesitate to take action on armed criminal elements and ensure the law takes its course.
There has been a spike in armed robbery cases recently involving shootouts with the police. In July this year, police detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) were involved in a shootout with seven armed robbers in Kwekwe with four of the robbers shot dead on the scene.
