Former MDC MP, Chimhini Demands Pension

A former MDC Member of Parliament, David Chimhini, who served for two terms has approached the High Court demanding his pension from the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare.

Chimhini cited the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare and the Parliament of Zimbabwe, as first and second respondents respectively, and part of the summons read:

The plaintiff having worked and served as an MP for two Parliaments is entitled to a pension when he attains the age of 50 years.

Despite demand, the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare has refused, neglected and ignored to calculate the pension benefits due to the plaintiff.

Chimhini served as Mutasa North MP from March 29, 2008, to June 29, 2013. He also served as a senator for Manicaland province from June 17, 2015, to July 29, 2018.
