Midlands To Have More Boreholes

The government, through the District Development Fund (DDF), intends to sink 20 boreholes while resuscitating some that are no longer functional in the Midlands province.

This was revealed by the District Development Coordinator for Midlands, Molly Shonhiwa. She said:

It is our responsibility as a department to provide water facilities in the communal areas. For that reason, we are targeting to sink about 20 boreholes across the provinces in 2019.

Shonhiwa expressed concern over the falling water table due to the scourge of climate change, a situation that have limited access to water by Midlanders.

She pledged to provide water for all the communities and livestock in the province while at the same time she urged communities to avoid stream bank cultivation as it results in siltation of water bodies.
