Govt To Procure Water Treatment Chemicals For Councils
The government is working on strategies to procure water treatment chemicals for local all authorities. This comes after Harare City Council shut down its water treatment plant at Morton Jaffray last week due to shortages of the chemicals.
This was said by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa while addressing a post-cabinet media briefing on Monday in Harare. She said:
… government is working on a more centralised arrangement for the local procurement and production of water treatment chemicals for all local authorities.
FeedbackLocal authorities have been struggling to acquire water treatment chemicals as some of them need to be imported while councils are owed millions in rates by businesses, residents, and government departments.
