"Help Us Help Ourselves", Chamisa Pleads With SADC

MDC president Nelson Chamisa has implored the Southern Africa Development Communuty (SADC) to help Zimbabwe deal with a myriad of political and economic challenges that it is currently facing.

Chamisa made the appeal while addressing thousands of party supporters at Rufaro Stadium during Saturday’s MDC 20th anniversary celebrations. He said:

SADC, you must listen because if you do not resolve this issue, it will haunt you.

The likes of South Africa and Botswana, correct the Zimbabwean issues; help us help ourselves.

Support us, we don’t want anything. We want solidarity and I want to thank those who stood with us through and supported us with solidarity across the world.

Thank you the International community, European Union, United States of America, Africa, SADC for standing with the nation of Zimbabwe.

You must know that if you don’t address this ill Zimbabwe, you will catch the flu very soon. There will be illness in SADC if SADC continues with an unstable Zimbabwe. It is a burden. So that issue must be resolved.

Chamisa has sought for the support of the regional body since the disputed 2018 elections, visiting several countries.

While his predecessor, Morgan Tsvangirai, found some favour with SADC, probably because some countries were led by less reactionary leaders, (Mwanawasa, Khama, Kikwete, etc) Chamisa has failed to receive similar support.
