NUST Students Appear In Court Over Demo

Thirteen students from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) have appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate over a demonstration against lecturers.

The students reportedly blocked the gates of the academic institution around 5 am on the 23rd of this month to block lecturers out.

They accused lecturers of not teaching parallel students since the beginning of the semester.

The students who are being represented by Mr Jabulani Mhlanga of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights were remanded out of custody on free bail to October 21.

The State, represented by Mr Mufaro Mageza, had argued that the accused persons had infringed on other people’s rights by blocking the gates.
