Zuva Pretroleum has increased the prices of cooking gas from ZW$15 per Kg to ZW$18 per Kg. Although it is not known when the prices were changed, the changes were made recently as gas was ZW$15 last week.
The development could have been influenced by a combination of factors including the local currency’s shedding of value on the market and the scarcity of foreign currency since gas is imported from beyond the country’s borders.
Cooking gas has become an alternative for many Zimbabweans as the country is grounded by a huge power deficit which saw the local power utility, ZESA, rolling out a crippling18-hour power cuts schedule.
