FULL TEXT: PSC Biometric Registration Victimizing Incapacitated Civil Servants -ARTUZ

The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union Of Zimbabwe has lamented a new ill they say is emanating from the need to meet the deadline to register themselves biometrically or risk being struck off the payroll. ARTUZ said some civil servants could not meet the deadline due to deteriorating economic conditions. Read the full text below:

The Public Service Commission, PSC has declared that all civil servants who fail to comply with biometric registration by 30 September 2019 will be struck off the pay roll.

Biometric registration for civil servants was created by capitalists through world bank and accepted by the puppets in government. It is their project and they must fund it.

Civil servants are failing to meet the 30 September deadline because of the obtaining economic conditions. We interviewed hundreds of civil servants who are still to comply and established that it will be difficult to have 100% compliance.

In Chirumhanzu it was established that the Registrar General’s office is not accepting ecocash. They are only taking bond notes, $50 in cash. This is unacceptable for a government department. It is common knowledge that cash is hard to come by, the government is encouraging the use of plastic money but rejecting the same.

Other Civil servants are failing to secure busfares to travel to the Registrar General’s offices. Inflation has eroded civil servants’ earnings and savings, it is embarrassing to note that a whole teacher can no longer afford busfare to and from district offices. Austerity measures have taken us this far. Mthuli Ncube should be ashamed of himself.

We urge the government to deploy mobile registration teams to conduct the program for free. Our civil servants are severely incapacitated.

A few days ago, civil servants were given 7 days to register biometrically. The biometric system was introduced as a measure to weed off ghost workers.
