Widow Of EX-Military Boss Dupes Business Partner, Defies Court Order

Magaret Zinavashe, the widow of the former military boss, General Vitalis Zvinavashe, is in trouble for cheating a business partner and defying a court order.

New Zimbabwe reports that Zvinavashe had a farming agreement with Oil Seed Association of Zimbabwe which entailed that they would share equally, the returns on the soya beans produce under joint supervision and monitoring of the harvesting and marketing of same by the parties.

The company had sponsored Zvinavashe with all the required soya blend for 200 hectares. Oil Seed Association expected to be paid US$294,84 for fertilisers per each hectare.

Zvinavashe, however, gave the company only 47,7 tonnes which is equivalent to US$14 100 leaving 177,58 tonnes valued at US$53 274. She is also said to have barred employees of Oil Seed Association of Zimbabwe from the farm, constituting a violation of the agreement.

The company approached the courts which ordered her to respect their agreement.

Oil Seed Association of Zimbabwe later realised that Zvinavashe had sold all the farm proceeds and had taken all the money.

The plaintiff, Oil Seed Association of Zimbabwe, approached the courts again demanding US$53 274 from Zvinavashe and also that she be compelled to pay legal costs. Part of the summons read:

For avoidance of doubt, the parties agreed that defendant (Zvinavashe) shall deliver 50 percent of the harvest to plaintiff and retain the remainder for herself.

Since commencement of the harvesting of the soya beans, plaintiff received soya beans deliveries amounting to 47,7 tonnes and thereby leaving an outstanding balance of 177,58 tonnes.
