FULL TEXT: "Be Cautioned Against Interfering With Police" Home Affairs Minister

Home Affairs Minister, Ambassador Cain Mathema has issued a statement, cautioning the media, human rights lawyers and civil society organisations against interfering with police investigations in the case of Dr Peter Magombeyi. Magombeyi who was found on Thursday 19 September had gone missing on the 14th. Police initiated investigations to establish what transpired since the day he disappeared and his date of return. Below is the full statement.

May I caution the media, human rights lawyers and some civic organisations against interfering with police investigations through the issuance of unverified statements, some which border on defeating or obstructing the course of justice.

My ministry is committed in ensuring that the police conduct comprehensive investigations with a view of clearly unearthing what happened in Dr Magombeyi’s case. Once again may I appeal to members of the public or anyone who has information which can assist police during the course of the investigations to come forward and give credible evidence through telephone numbers 0242 — 703631, 0242 — 748836 or Whatsapp number 0712800197.

Ambassador N. C. G Mathema (Senator) Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage
