First Capital Bank MD, Samuel Matsekete has said that the US dollar was back in full force and would be difficult and or impossible to totally do away with it. Speaking to Trevor Ncube, Alpha Media Holdings chairperson, Matsekete said that the issue was the mindset with Zimbabweans and any other society that had dollarised before.
His remarks come after the country through Statutory Instrument 142 of 2019 banned the use of all foreign currencies on domestic transactions.
Although some shops have ceased charging their commodities in US dollars, they use the current exchange rates to determine their prices. Watch the video below for more.
