Ruwa Country Club Gutted By Fire

Ruwa Country Club clubhouse was on Thursday gutted by fire, with the cause of the inferno still to be established.

The newly-established structure is reported to have been extensively damaged by the fire. National Police spokesperson Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident. He said:

We can confirm that there was a fire breakout at Ruwa Country Club and we are still investigating the cause.

We are not yet aware of the value of the destroyed property, but no one was injured.

Ruwa Country Club was recently transformed into a golf resort and residential estate and the refurbishment is ongoing.

It is located about 26 kilometres east of Harare along Mutare Road. It a brand new 18-hole championship golf course which is Zimbabwe’s second such development after Borrowdale Brooke.
