The ruling ZANU PF party on Wednesday castigated what it called stage-managed abductions following a politburo meeting at the party’s headquarters in Harare.
Addressing reporters after the meeting, Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Simon Khaya Moyo said:
On the alleged abductions, members of the politburo strongly condemned the malcontents by some anti-government forces, the Politburo implored the security forces to thoroughly look into the misdeeds bent on setting a bad image ahead of international occasions like the forthcoming United Nations General Assembly set for the United States this week.
This follows the disappearance of Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association (ZHDA) acting president Dr Peter Magombeyi on Saturday night.
Following Dr Magombeyi’s alleged abduction, doctors and other health workers at the country’s public health institutions withdrew their labour, demanding his immediate release.
