Chitungwiza Man Names Son After Mugabe

A ZANU PF supporter said he named his son, born on 18 April 2017, after the late former President Robert Mugabe.

49-year-old Duke Chinyongo from St Mary’s, Chitungwiza, told The Herald that it was his love for the ruling party that prompted him to name his last-born child Tinotenda Robert Gabriel Deeds Chinyongo. He said:

Yes, I can confirm that I named my son Tinotenda Robert Gabriel Deeds Chinyongo soon after his birth on the 18th of April 2017 to clearly show the nation that I have passion for the ruling party Zanu-PF and the former great icon and Leader Robert Mugabe. This I did not wait for him to die first but I decided to honour when he was still alive.

Chinyongo revealed that initially he wanted to name his son Tinotenda Robert Gabriel Mugabe Deeds Chinyongo but was blocked by the authorities at Chitungwiza Registrar General’s Offices when he wanted to get him a birth certificate.
