ZANU PF Mourns Another War Veteran

ZANU PF politburo members extended their condolences to Mavhunga family following the passing on of Martin Mavhunga, a war veteran and husband to Minister of State for Provincial Affairs in Mashonaland Central, Monica Mavhunga.

Mavhunga died on Friday 13 September at West End Clinic, after a long battle with a kidney ailment.

Retired Air Chief Marshall Perrance Shiri, Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement said that Mavhunga’s death was a huge blow to the ZANU PF party as it is still mourning the deaths of Major General Mugoba and Zimbabwe’s former president, Robert Mugabe.

Shiri added that the 66-year-old Mavhunga was a brave man who partook in the liberation struggle and also in the land reform programme. He added:

On Friday, we lost Cde Mavhunga who was a war veteran. We were together in the liberation struggle.

Another politburo member, Senate President, Mabel Chinomona said that Mavhunga’s struggle with kidney ailment should be a wakeup call for the government to make available health care facilities for people who liberated this country.

Chinomona added that war veterans deserved special treatment.

Mavhunga joined the liberation struggle in 1975.
