Tatenda Mukuruva Re-emerges In America

Former Warriors and Dynamos goalkeeper Tatenda Mukuruva has resurfaced at Michigan Stars in the United States of America following his “disappearance” from Zambia.

The 23-year-old, who was the Zimbabwe Warriors’ first-choice goalkeeper at the 2017 Afcon finals in Gabon, left the Zambian top-flight side Buildcon in March.

Mukuruva had not featured for Buildcon in the Zambian Super League which kicked off two weeks ago, as well, as the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup.

His new club, Michigan Stars compete in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL)’s Midwest Division–Great Lakes Conference.

According to The Sports Hub, the NPSL is the fourth tier of competition in the United States soccer pyramid, behind Major League Soccer (MLS), the USL Championship (USLC) and the USL League One (USL1).

Mukuruva received credit for the Detroit-based club’s fifth-place finish in the NPSL eight-team Great Lakes Conference Division, which earned them a spot in the rebranded NPSL Members Cup. A US-based publication, The Detroit News reported:

The club finished fifth in the NPSL eight-team Great Lakes Conference Division, posting wins over Grand Rapids FC, Indiana FC and Toledo Villa.

The Stars were never blown out in any of their six losses as their minus-3 goal differential indicates. Part of the credit goes for that goes to the club’s Zimbabwe international goalkeeper Tatenda Mkuruva, who previously played for Cape Town FC in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League.
