Fuel Service Station Demands Cash Only

A fuel service station in Mufakose is reportedly rejecting swipe and mobile money payments, demanding bond notes.

Motorists are now calling on the government to withdraw Maps Service Station’s operating licence. A motorist who spoke to ZBC News said:

They are demanding cash, they have been collecting cash since morning and now they have closed but fuel is available.

In a telephone interview with ZBC News, Director of the Service Station Bowas Mapiro said their fuel is not subsided by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ). He said:

Our fuel is not RBZ fuel it is not subsidized we pay our dealers in foreign currency.
