Zimbabwe’s founding father, the late former president, Robert Mugabe is set to have a special grave which takes about 30 days to prepare.
Leo Mugabe, the spokesperson of the family of the late veteran leader on Friday said that Mugabe would be buried in a mausoleum, an impressive structure which will house his tomb in recognition of his stature as a liberation icon and founding leader of the country. Leo said:
I can confirm that he will be buried at the National Heroes Acre, but when is another matter.
We are ready to do this so that the public can see this is the founding father of our nation and, therefore, the shrine should be different and show the respect the whole nation is bestowing on him.
This is not just an ordinary hero … he is the founder of the nation. That must be shown forever and ever at the National Heroes Acre so that anybody who visits must be able to say yes, this is where Robert Mugabe is buried.
The body will then be … taken for burial later once the works that are supposed to be done at the Heroes Acre are done and finalised.
It will take a bit of time for the works to be done, perhaps as much as a week. Thereafter, he will be buried at the Heroes Acre during a private service.
Leo also announced that his uncle will be buried at the National Heroes Acre, an announcement that puts an end to confusion which prevailed this week over place and date of burial of the former ZANU PF Boss.
