US$200 000 Burnt To Ashes In Waterfalls House Inferno

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said a house in Waterfalls was razed by fire resulting in the loss of US$200 000 that was kept in the house.

The fire broke out on Thursday night, 12 September 2019 and is thought to have been ignited by fuel jerry cans and LP gas that was stored in the house. Police said in a statement:

Police are investigating circumstances surrounding a fire incident that destroyed a house and household property in Waterfalls, Harare on 12/09/19 at about 1230hrs.

An explosion was heard emanating from the house. USD200 000, 00 which was in the house was also destroyed.

Two jerry cans with fuel and 3 tanks of LP gas which were in the house are believed to have fueled the fire.

We urge the public to avoid keeping large sums of money which should be deposited with banks, while fuel must not be kept in dwellings.
