ZACC Unearths Rampant Corruption In Recruitment Of Nurses

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has reported that it unearthed rampant corruption in the recruitment of nurses in hospitals.

This was revealed by ZACC spokesperson, Mr John Makamure who said that the scandal was exposed by a systems audit and compliance review of Government ministries, departments and State entities the anti-graft body carried out. Makamure said:

We carried out systems review exercises in five of the six central hospitals in Zimbabwe on the recruitment and selection of trainee registered nurses.

Our findings were quite alarming; there was rampant bribery for one to enrol as a trainee nurse. Some authorities made brisk business on unsuspecting poor candidates. Some hospitals had internal policies that benefited staff dependants, while the public is cheated to apply and attend interviews.

The report comes after the recent Auditor General’s report also indicated that several government departments and officials were engaged in underhand dealings.

Zimbabwe is ranked among the countries with the highest corruption in the world.

  1. The list of corrupt govt institutions may not exclude tertiary colleges especially teachers training. They are making a kill from poor applicants.Just extend your arm of investigation and check it out.

  2. The whole system is kaput. From the government to small businesses. The regime gets a gold medal for being the most incompetent in the world. Only ZanuPf could have achieved this pathetic milestone.
