Leo Mugabe, the spokesperson of the family of the late former President of Zimbabwe, Robert Gabriel Mugabe has dismissed as fake reports that the late ex-ZANU PF boss rejected to be buried at the National Heroes Acre.
Mugabe’s nephew added that the Chiefs (the Zvimba people) in consultation with Mugabe’s widow, Grace Mugabe, will decide on where Mugabe will be buried.
Earlier reports had suggested that Mugabe had rejected the National Heroes Acre in protest of the way his lieutenants removed him from power in 2017.
Some family members, including former first lady Grace Mugabe, claim the late veteran leader rejected burial at the National Heroes Acre saying he would like to be buried at his rural home in Zvimba.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa would have wanted Mugabe to be buried at the National Heroes Acre is what Mnangagwa since that would give him the opportunity to preside over his former boss’ funeral.
