Women Being Made To Deliver Babies Using Candlelight

The ongoing power cuts have resulted in women delivering babies using candlelight at most Harare City Polyclinics.

Harare City Health Director Dr Prosper Chonzi confirmed that availability of power had been a challenge for some time during an interview with Health Times.

Dr Chonzi said that he is sure that the problem of power has been sorted at Mufakose which was facing challenges with its solar systems. He said:

That has been sorted I think. That has been rectified. There was a power problem recently. All our clinics have solar power as backups including the one in Mufakose. Unfortunately, their solar system was down. They have a small generator but we have sorted it out.

… This is not the first time we have had that issue. That has been happening for some weeks now.
