"I Was Sacked From The Party I Founded," Analysts Say Mugabe Died Bitter

Zimbabwe’s founding leader, Robert Mugabe who led the country for nearly four decades has died in the early hours of Friday after being confined to a hospital in Singapore for a sustained period of time.

Analysts say that he died a bitter man following his unceremonious departure from the political arena in 2017. Mugabe resigned as the national army had seized almost every key sector in the country, rendering the country ungovernable.

Mugabe later said that his resignation was not voluntary as he had to choose between a civil war and giving up power. He added:

I was sacked from the party I founded, Zanu-PF, with the likes of Va(former vice president Simon) Muzenda and others. I was regarded now as an enemy.

He described the deployment of the army and army machinery into the streets of Harare as the greatest damage the nation had inflicted upon the history of Zimbabwe and the greatest injustice to the nation.

This comes after Mugabe is reported to have snubbed a National Heroes Acre burial merely because he did not want the processions to be presided over by those who dislodged him from power.

The report suggested that Mugabe’s preference is to be buried next to his mother Bona at his rural home in Zvimba, Mashonaland West province.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is said to have sent delegations to persuade him to change his mind. It remains unknown whether Mugabe changed his mind on the matter or not.
