"We're Not In Wards, We're Not At The Hospitals," - Doctors Strike
Doctors in Zimbabwe have embarked on industrial action as a way of forcing the government to increase their salaries which they say have been eroded by the soaring inflation.
Like several other workers, doctors indicated that they were no longer able to fully execute their duties and responsibilities due to the biting economic crisis.
Workers from across all sectors have said that their salaries could no longer afford basics such as transport, food and school fees for their children.
Speaking to AFP by phone, the president of the Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association, Peter Magombeyi, said:
We are not in the wards, we are not at the hospitals. We simply do not have the means, we are incapacitated.
