Government Worried Over SA's Fresh Xenophobic Threats

The Government of Zimbabwe has expressed concern about the safety of Zimbabweans living and working in South Africa after some native South Africans threaten foreigners with fresh xenophobic attacks. This came to light in a letter from Zimbabwe Ambassador to South Africa to the Transport Ministry secretary Amos Marawa.

Hamadziripi wrote:

We are equally deeply concerned about the safety of our truck drivers in light of the reported attacks directed at them and other foreigners in that industry.

This comes at a time where South Africans have threatened to stage a demo today against foreign truck drivers. The Zim Ambassador to South Africa last week met with the South African Govt officials to discuss the plans in place to quell xenophobic attacks against Zimbabwean Drivers.
