The Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Professor Amon Murwira has said that Zimbabwe’s polytechnics can only remain relevant by being centres of innovation.
His remarks were made at the Mutare Polytechnic College’s 30th graduation ceremony held on Friday, 31 August 2019.
Said Murwira in a speech read on his behalf:
Our polytechnics have to evolve into serious centres of innovation and excellency if they are to remain relevant to the country’s industrialisation and modernisation agenda. Put differently industry and commerce should be anchored on a vibrant tvet system and vice-versa. This means that our graduands should innovate and create industry rather than be employment seekers.
