War Veterans Demand Own Ministry

War veterans have demanded their own ministry arguing that the government has since independence has been neglecting their welfare.

Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association spokesperson, Douglas Mahiya said:

The war veterans again are advocating for a Ministry that will look after their own affairs because we don’t understand why it is not happening when the President has already agreed to it.

So why can’t we have our own Minister who probably will look at issues that affect war veterans.

Mahiya revealed that war veterans were living on a US$0.48 per day which is not sustainable in the current economic conditions which raised the cost of living.

War veterans whose issues currently fall under the Ministry of Defence and War Veterans feel that the government was addressing issues affecting other societal groups whilst their issues were being overlooked.
