Japan has been a huge competitor and critic to China which has also been an emerging force on both the geopolitical and geoeconomics arena.

China has its own version of the Japanese TICAD which is called the Forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) which has the same objectives as those of TICAD although they differ in scope.

Zimbabwe was previously inclined more to China, but President Mnangagwa announced intentions to engage and or reengage every fundamental player on the global arena.
