An old video of late Political Science lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe Prof John Makumbe suggesting that former President Robert Mugabe wanted to hand over power to MDC founder Morgan Tsvangirai in 2008. Makumbe claimed that Mugabe was however restrained by his “handlers”. It was rumoured during those days that President Emmerson Mnangagwa himself confronted and “assaulted” Mugabe over the matter. This came after the 2008 harmonised elections which were followed by the bloody runoff in which ZANU PF members were accused of torturing and killing purported MDC members. Watch the video below.
Whilst there is an attempt to rewrite History, the truth is that Robert Mugabe wanted to hand over power to Morgan Tsvangirai in 2008 according to many including Prof John Makumbe. Violence was unleashed against the citizen by the current ZANUPF leadership to stop that handover! pic.twitter.com/iquzpgIxc4
