Kuda Musasiwa, Zimbabwean entrepreneur, musician, and music producer has claimed that Ecocash are lying about their bureau de change exchange rates.
His remarks come after the largest mobile phone-based money transfer, financing and microfinancing service, Ecocash, recently launched its Bureau de Change platform after receiving a licence.
Musasiwa said on Twitter:
Retweet if u have bought your own cash for 35% – 40% from @EcoCashZW. They say they have dealt with agents. I say it’s lies. I think all Ecocash agents should be linked to an atm, retail shop or bureau DE changé and all rogue agents should be revoked. @MthuliNcube @GGuvamatanga
Ecocash now want the diaspora to send remittances using their bureau DE changé. Send ur loved one $100USd they receive $1080 on ecocash then lose $400 to @EcoCashZW agent to buy mafuta in fiyo and catch a combi coz that demands cash. Their rate is 1:6 not 1:10.8. Don’t do it!
