Recently launched Econet app, Sasai, now has a money remmitances service. The service is offered by the parent company Cassava SmartTech via the app. Users of the app will be charged 2.5% transfer fees.
However, for the first 30 days, the company is not charging anything for transfers in a bid to promote usage.
The money remittted will be sent to EcoCash forex wallets where recipients can use the EcoCash Bureau de Change service feature to convert it to USD.
Said assava Smartech Zimbabwe CEO, Eddie Chibi:
By offering a free promotion, we are trying to create more foreign currency inflows into the country from outside Zimbabwe. We won’t make any money on it for now.
