Sugar Cane Farmer Hacks Teen Girlfriend To Death Over Infidelity

Police in Chiredzi has launched a massive manhunt for a sugar cane farmer who allegedly hacked to death his long-time girlfriend with a machete after he accused her of cheating on him.

Brighton Bhasikiti (30) of Hippo Valley Estates, disappeared after brutally murdering his unnamed 17-year-old lover.

According to police, the murder occurred at the farm on August 14, 2019, at around 2 am. Acting Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa had this to say:

Bhasikiti suspected that his girlfriend was having an affair with another man. At around 2 am a misunderstanding arose between the two.

He then took a sharp cane-cutting machete which he allegedly used to severely strike the deceased in the head several times.

Following the savage assault, the victim is said to have fled from the house to seek refuge at her neighbour Albert Chitsa’s house.

Bhasikiti followed in hot pursuit and also attacked Chitsa with the machete on the head, causing to run for dear life.
