Security Agents Incompetent Or Culprits? – Concerned Citizen

A concerned citizen has expressed confusion over the number of assassination attempts on citizens including top government officials. Posting on Twitter, one Zandatoto observed that those cases are still pending despite their significance. Zandatoto said:

Are our CIOs & CIDs that daft or they know whodunnit?

VP break-ins – no arrest

Ice cream🍦– no arrest

VP escape🏃– no arrest

White City 💣 – no arrest

01/08/18💀– no arrest

15/01/19💀– no arrest

Abductions – no arrest

And many more..🧐 🤔

How is this possible?

Probably another unresolved case to add is that of missing journalist Itai Dzamara who was reportedly abducted in 2015 when he was coming from a barbershop.

Zandatoto’s post comes at a time when a number of opposition MDC members and human rights defenders are being nicodemusly abducted and tortured by unknown people.

Norton legislator, Temba Mliswa, also expressed alarm over the silence of the security sector when abductions seem to be increasing. He said:

I would indeed be alarmed to realise these abductions are happening and no one from state security agencies is responding or saying something. We cannot be a nation like that. If crimes are being committed action must not just be done but must be seen to be done.

Some analysts have said that abductors are likely government agents considering that victims are staunch critics of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government.

The government, on the other hand, is claiming that the abductors are likely disgruntled former ZANU PF members who sympathise with former president Robert Mugabe.

Authorities also argue that the abductions are intended to soil the image of Mnangagwa.

What is common in all cases however is that there were no arrests made. It is, therefore, not clear whether the agents are not equipped to execute their duties and responsibilities or they are the ones committing crimes against citizens they should be protecting.
